Submerged arc furnaces are mainly used for the production of ferroalloys.
Additionally, the units produce calcium carbide (CaC2) and calcium silicon (CaSi) for secondary metallurgy in steel production. And finally, this technology is ideal for reprocessing / recycling residues from the iron and steel industry. Here is an overview of the main applications:
- Ferro silicon (incl. FeSi45, FeSi75, FeSi90)
- Ferro manganese (incl. H.C. FeMn, M.C. FeMn, L.C. FeMn, M.C. SiMn)
- Ferro chromium (incl. H.C. FeCr, M.C. FeCr, L.C. FeCr, SiCr)
- Ferro nickel (incl. 15 – 30% Ni)
- Special alloys (incl. FeV, FeNb, FeW, FeMo)
- CaC2, CaSi
- Raw materials for the refractory industry (incl. corundum, smelting magnesia, mineral wool)
- Metallurgical plant residue reprocessing and recycling (incl. flue dust, scale, slag, salamanders)
